I was singing along with Puff Daddy this morning - If you'll excuse the pun, he really was bang on the money - dirty or not! His song 'I'm coming home, coming home tell the world I'm coming home...touched a chord. Especially the part that went 'A house is not a home when yer loved ones is gone' cause that's exactly what I'm feeling right now with Victoria and Alexandra in Europe. This house of ours feels even bigger..what on earth will it feel like when Claudia is gone! A situation all Mama Bears have to face one day...As they say 'I'll cross that bridge when I get to it'. Hopefully, I'll be crossing it and not jumping off it!
Even though it's Day 3 since Vicky left, Chi Chi is still not herself. Each night she goes into Vicky's bedroom to check if she is back and spends some time in mourning under her bed. After about an hour or so, she knocks on our door to be let in. I get her 'visitor cushion' ready for her and she sleeps on the floor beside our bed. Unfortunately, she snores like a drunken sailor - Incredibly loud for such a tiny mutt! Our bedroom is now a meeting place for all the lonely hearts.
It was 'Mommy business' as usual after work and school today. I brought Claudia out for a driving lesson. Unfortunately, I was more of a hindrance than a help. It was a beautiful sunny evening, so perfect for the task at hand. Except...there were far too many distractions! As we drove through the eerily quiet neighbourhoods, I became curious as to what went on behind all the perfectly manicured lawns and closed doors.
'Ahh look' I say to Claudia 'What a nice daddy playing football with his son' He looked such a perfect daddy. I wondered was he one of those tortured souls whose daddy never played with him when he was a child, and he was determined he would not repeat the sins of his father. Or was he trying to avoid the dishes tonight?
Next I saw a yummy mummy jogging with her baby in tow - you know those jogging prams the actors in Hollywood use. Tom Cruise was the first man I ever saw using one. But then the question is - Is he a man? I dunno. Back to the jogging pram. If I was a baby again I would hate my Mummy to be yummy. I would prefer her to be fat and jolly and walking at an easy pace, and stopping to goo goo and gaa gaa with me every few minutes. I dunno how on earth babies can sleep with the driver going at such a pace! I suppose it's one way of getting their workout too! And if I'm not sleeping I wouldn't like to be looking out at mummy's sweaty tortured visage.
Talk about prams...the next sight we saw, on our 'Driving Lesson', was a sweet little old lady walking her granddaughter in a pink pram. 'Aaaah Claudia looook...over there the little lady with a.....WHAT! No Claudia did not crash the car when I roared in her ears. The WHAT? was because the sweet little granny lady was not wheeling a baby in her cute pink pram but a DOG! I kid you not. She had a huge brown dog in the pram with his paws coming over the side. 'Why on earth would you bring your dog for a walk like that?' Claudia sensibly asked. Why on earth? I dunno - maybe her dog is her baby. Maybe she is a seasoned 'empty nester'. It got me thinking...
Now I know how I'll entertain myself when my chicks have all left the nest... I'll get a nice orange coloured pram - not the joggy ones that make you sweat - but rather a sweet little double buggy for each of my mutts, with rattles and doggy treats galore. YEAH! I'll not be jumping over bridges, but rather crossing over them going goo goo and ga ga with my four legged babies...Ah! Positive Ideation is what it's all about!
Keep Smilin'
