Rain drops keep falling on my head...

and Starbucks coffee and water and salmon and car cleaning fluid and rain for that matter!

The sky really was falling yesterday... I know how Chicken Little must have felt. It began first thing in the morning when a plate of juicy salmon, balanced precariously in the fridge, fell out and spilled all over the floor and fridge door. The dogs raced down the stairs immediately. They knew in an instant the sound of opportunity. Within seconds they had lapped up all the salmon and licked the plate clean. That is when dogs really come in handy!

Later in the morning I was putting fuel in the car and decided to get a car wash. I go for the luxury ones as I just love the sight of all that coloured creamy popcorn pouring down the windscreen. Yesterday it was a beautiful rainbow of turquoise and pink. So there I was thoroughly enjoying the car wash and listening to my favourite song - Adele's 'Rolling in the deep' (ironic!) when lo and behold I felt the pitter patter of raindrops on my head. It was only when I got out of the car wash I made the horrible discovery that the sun roof on my car wasn't properly closed, leaving the back seats wet with big blobs of soapy water...EEEEK!

It continued to be a wet wet day with a Starbucks coconut drink spilling on Victoria, my water bottle spilling all over the floor and table in my office not least of all the RAIN!

This evening there were tears of sadness shed by many a woman when I attended a slide show given by Women helping Women. It told the very very sad story of how girls in Malawi, Africa are suffering. You have to check it out on http://www.malawigirlsonthemove.com/ to learn about how the APU school in Malawi is changing lives, one girl at a time. There is going to be a cocktail party here in Victoria on June 5th to raise funds for the school. Looking at the slide show and listening to the passionate presenter, an ex teacher by the name of Christie, it made me realize how lucky we are and how much we take for granted here in Canada. Most of the girls in Malawi had to leave school at 14 to support their families and were pregnant at 15 - married to men they did not know or love - just to raise funds for their family. Not all of them were lucky to survive their pregnancy, due to malnourishment.

After the Malawi event, I was so upset when I went home, and could not go directly to bed as I knew I was too pumped up to sleep, so I turned on the television and the shopping channel happened to be on. Some fellow was selling the most useless contraption I had ever seen - it looked like ear phones with a light attached to it. What the? Maybe if you only had an outside loo miles down the field, at the back of your house...you know those holes in the ground loos like those poor girls in Malawi probably have...that is the only use I could think for that weird looking object, the price of it would educate a girl in Malawi for a year probably. It sure made me think.

To all of you reading this, check out their website and let your heart do the thinking...maybe you, or somebody you know could organise a FUNdraiser for those poor girls - WHO - but for the grace of God could be YOU, your sisters, mothers, friends.

If you are reading this Lori - thank you for bringing me to visit the Malawai girls school last night.

Hell - it sure was one wet day yesterday!

Love you, love yourselves, and love and pray for the Malawi girls, and all the girls around the world, suffering in similar circumstances.
